Interview in Utusan Malaysia

Last week, I was a panellist in a forum on stem cell therapy at the UKM Medical Centre (formerly Hospital UKM). After the forum, I was interviewed by a journalist from Utusan Malaysia on a slightly different topic but a topic that is close to my heart, namely organ donation from the perspective of Islam. The interview came out today in the paper's Mega pullout section. Unfortunately, there is no link to the write-up.

On a related note, I was informed that there was an organ donor yesterday at Hospital Selayang, and there is a potential donor today also from the same hospital. I hope that people will continue to pledge and donate organs, because this will certainly help to save many lives, insya-Allah.

It has been 10 years since I last filled up that green form. I didn't get any letter or even a call confirming my decision etc. I carried that thin green card with me for so many years, until my wallet was stolen. I wouldn't know where to get another card. There is no website where I can check if I am on the pledgers list or not. There is no database that is readily available for the registered pledgers to check. There is no follow - up from the organization that is supposed to be at the forefront of this. Even the name is not easy to remember... National Transplat Resource Centre? Who would remember such a name lah? After so many years, keep complaining lack of donation/pledgers etc but have they ever thought about being efficient in the first place? Have they ever advertise on primetime TV?

Complain so much yet nobody's to blame but them. ST_P_D really.
